PAST LITTERS
When Skkylar and Chopper had their first litter, we thought that the puppies would end up looking very much like Skkylar when they grew up, but we weren't 100% sure. Now her first litter is almost grown up, and we have pictures and emails from most of their new owners. They do indeed look like Skkylar, but with a hint of Chopper thrown in too.
Bentley is the absolute love of our lives. He makes us laugh everyday. He is happy to be a dog and happy to be alive, that seems to sum him up. He is a very loving dog, gives lots of kisses and always has to be touching some part of you when he sleeps. He looks forward to going on his daily walks, all you have to say is the word walk and he is at the door. His new favorite thing is playing in the snow. He frolicks through the snow like it's the best thing he has ever seen. I have not had any problems with him chewing on stuff he isn't suppose to or having accidents in the house. Once he was house broken, he has not had one accident in the house. I don't kennel him anymore when we are gone and haven't since September, he is very trustworthy. He does like socks, not to chew them just play with them and he likes to shred napkins and paper towels. Shredding paper is like Christmas to him, he gets so excited when he is doing it even though he knows he's not suppose to have it. You can't help but laugh at him when you see him with shredded napkin all around him. He is shy of people when he first meets them, it takes him a little bit to warm up to strangers before they can pet him and he doesn't care for high energy dogs but thats not always a bad thing. I couldn't ask for a better dog, he is really a joy to have.
If anyone has any questions I would gladly talk to them. Please give them my number or email. Let me know if there is anything else.

Here is Bentley. Notice the back legs in the first picture. Chopper does that all the time.
Have you ever thought of getting two dachshund puppies at the same time? Mary Ann and her family did just that. Sammy is Skkylar's puppy, and Peanut is Peaches' puppy. Chopper is the father of both.
Hi Steve and Charie,
Sammy and Peanut are doing wonderfully. They are both so well behaved and very lovable. People tell us all the time that they are amazed that they are such good dogs. Hopefully we've sent some customers your way with all the raving we do about you!
Here are some pictures of both boys. Looking at your photo's on the website, Sammy looks just like his parents. Peanut's hair has stayed shorter so far and he is a light red-darker than his parents. Do you think his hair will stay shorter?
Sammy is very lovable and sweet and always loves a belly rub!! Peanut is more spunky and rambuctious. He is the better listener when called though, and he always looks back for Sammy to make sure he is coming too. How do they seem to compare to their parents in temperment?
When I was just looking at your latest puppies, Tom told me not to get any ideas!! We couldn't love our boys more!! If we ever know of someone looking for a dachshund, we would definitely send them you way.
Merry Christmas!!
Mary Ann
Hi Steve!
Here are some pictures of Leo. He is doing great! He gets along very well with his big brother, Tucker. Everybody just loves him! We are so glad to have him a part of our family. Thank you so much!
And here is Leo. Of course Tucker isn't a dachshund, but I think they make a very handsome pair.
I got a long email from Otto's people. Otto took on the challenge of going to a home where they had never had a dog, much less a dachshund! From the email, I think I can safely say that Otto has his people trained pretty well and is doing nicely. Here is most of the email.
...... Anyway, about the past 6 months. I can honestly say that the first weekend was a nightmare. By Sunday night, we were both second guessing our decision. I think that is normal for first time dog owners though. Of course we stuck it out and can't imagine living without him. The kenneling only lasted a few days. After that, we have a dog that shares our bed. We really didn't like the whole idea of kenneling all day when we were at work anyway. Cassie had the first month off, so we were lucky she could be home and reinforce potty training. Eventually Otto moved to the bathroom, with a gate to wrangle him in. After a few months of that, he moved to the kitchen/hallway area. He did great. Up until a couple of weeks ago, he was still in the kitchen, but when we got home, he would be sitting on the couch, without messing anywhere and destroying anything. That was AWESOME. He now gets the run of the house, except for the basement and hasn't messed or chewed anything. We feel very fortunate. We feel better leaving all day and knowing he isn't trapped in a cage. As far as potty training, it actually went very well. Dachshunds are supposed to be on of the hardest breeds to house train, but we really didn't have an issue. I don't know if it was luck or persistence. As far as his demeanor, he is an unbelievably good dog. He never chewed on furniture, cords, shoes, plants, or anything he wasn't supposed to. He is VERY smart. Too smart sometimes. He loves to lay on our laps, or just lay next to us. He loves to "clown around" for people. He really does some funny things. He also makes all sorts of funny little noise too. I've never heard a dog make so many noises. He is VERY shy around new people. He is still getting to know my parents, even though he's been around them a lot. We did a puppy socialization class, and I think it helps. Friends of ours got a long hair-cream Dachshund a month before us named Gustav. It's great to have a friend for him. They love to play. He also loves the snow. We really didn't know how he would do, but he loves it. I made little paths all around the back yard so he can run, and he has a blast. He is very calm. If people are looking for high strung, this isn't the dog for them. He loves to run and play, but he doesn't get destructive if he doesn't exercise. We didn't have separation anxiety either. He does really well when we leave. I'm sure I have missed some things. If anyone needs any more info, feel free to give them my email address, or have them call me. I'd be happy to talk with them. We would like to say thank you again. We couldn't be blessed with a better dog. He has really been a joy to have. Cassie is already talking about getting him a brother, so maybe in a year or two, you will hear from us again. We will see about that. Take care and please let me know if we can help in any way.
Merry Christmas,
David and Cassie
P.S. Otto says Auf wiedersehen
Ellie Mae only had 2 puppies in her last litter. Here is Lulu. Her father is Rocky, not Chopper, so you can't go by Lulu to see how Ellie's present puppies might look.
Lulu wanted to say Merry Christmas to you and all the pups!
Happy Holidays!
Kelly and Enzo
These two pictures are of Skkylar's FIRST litter when they were only a few days old. These are the same puppies pictured and described by their owners on the rest of the page.
Hi Steve and Charie,
I have been meaning to email you an update of Harper Lee (aka Sugar) for quite some time, but just haven't been able to get around to it until now. Harper has grown quite healthy over the past 7 months. She certainly plays the alpha dog role quite well. She, like your website indicates, has quite a sassy personality, and we couldn't be more pleased. Perhaps one of her best attributes, or so she thinks, is her persistence in getting her parent's to do whatever she wants them to do. For instance, when Harper decides it is time to play, she will let us know by a persistent growl. If we do not respond, she ups the anty to a bark or two. Still, if we do not respond, she will continue to bark until she gets her way. As her parents, no amount of obedience training, has seemed to deter her from this habit. It is so precious.
Although she is small, she loves the winter! She enjoys digging tunnels and burying her head in the snow. Generally, she loves everything outdoors. She enjoys walks and camping. She is unsure of water still, but will swim when Matt or I are out in the water.
She loves to cuddle, and sleeps with us every night. However, as she has gotten older, she has become a bit more independent, and chooses where she sleeps. Occasionally we will find her under the bed, the couch or by the door in the morning. She goes to daycare a couple days a week while we are at work, and she loves to play with all puppies, big or small. We particularly enjoy this because it gets rid of all the extra energy she has ALL the time.
Anyways, just wanted to give you a quick update. Harper has been a great addition to our lives. We couldn't ask for a better pet. Her are some pictures we have taken throughout the months. Hope you enjoy.
I was reading the additional information on Skkylar and Chopper's litter and I have to say Harper has sooo many of the same mannerisms. She has many very odd noises that come out of her. I swear sometimes she sounds like a bird or a cat. I have never heard those noises come for a dog.
She also lays with her hind legs behind her (like the first set of pictures). It is so cute to see some of her brother's and sisters have similar mannerisms.
